International conference on "Enhanced genepool utilization - Capturing wild relative and landrace diversity for crop improvement"
The online registration and the call for abstracts for the International conference on "Enhanced genepool utilization - Capturing wild relative and landrace diversity for crop improvement", to be held at NIAB Innovation Farm, Cambridge, United Kingdom from 16-20 June 2014, is now Open! See the registration details at Online Registration at http://www.pgrsecure.org/
The Conference scientific themes and sessions are:
THEME 1: Characterization techniques
The Theme 1 topic is characterization techniques to identify traits and expedite plant breeding.
Authors may present: a) ‘omics’ and b) predictive techniques. The Theme 1 sessions are as follows:
• Pre-breeders’ use of exotic germplasm
• Breeders’ use of exotic germplasm
• Novel germplasm characterization techniques
THEME 2: Conservation strategies
The Theme 2 topics are: a) national, regional and global Crop Wild Relatives and Landrace conservation strategy development, b) targeted conservation to meet the needs of the plant breeding community, and c) integration of CWR and LR diversity into existing biodiversity conservation programmes. The Theme 2 sessions are as follows:
• International Crop Wild Relatives conservation
• International Landrace conservation
• National Crop Wild Relative/Landrace conservation
THEME 3: Facilitating Crop Wild Relatives and Landrace use
The Theme 3 topics are: a) pre-breeding, b) meeting breeders’ needs, c) integrating the conservation and user communities, and d) policy enhancement. The Theme 3 sessions are as follows:
