The Forage Improvement Division of the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation seeks applicants for a 100% research position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Plant Breeding. The incumbent will join a vigorous interdisciplinary team of researchers developing improved forage cultivars for sustainable farming systems and expanding scientific knowledge about plant improvement. The successful candidate will be expected to lead a modern breeding program focused on cultivar development of cereals for forage (rye, wheat, perennial grains, and/or other species) and to collaborate with faculty breeding alfalfa, tall fescue (including endophytic fungi), and switchgrass. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research program in quantitative genetics or genomics, molecular breeding, or stress physiology and interact closely with other faculty at the Foundation. The position has generous base funding. Highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Crop Science, or Plant Biology with a background in plant breeding, statistics, quantitative genomics, crop physiology, and/or genetics and a strong record of publication and grant funding are urged to apply. Candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills. The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation has state-of-the-art research and greenhouse facilities, and modern laboratory and office areas. Salary is dependent on qualifications but will be highly competitive, with excellent benefits.
