The project title is: “Boosting Drought Tolerance in key cereals in the era of climate change (BOOSTER)”. Details about the overall project information can be requested to Dr. Rossi. The work will be mainly related to the development of MOA-seq protocol (https://journals.plos.org/plosgenetics/article?id=10.1371/journal.pgen.1009689) for maize, teff, and E. nindensis, whit the later that is a desiccation tolerant plant. Dr. Rossi’s lab will mainly focus on teff and E. nindensis, in collaboration with Thomas Hartwig, University of Dusseldorf, Germany, Zerihun Tadele, University of Bern, Switzerland, and Bob VanBuren, MSU, USA) The aim is to use this approach to identify genetic variants in cis-regulatory elements functionally associated with drought tolerance. In addition, Dr. Rossi’s lab will be also involved in transcriptome and other analysis related to the study of maize mutants with improved drought tolerance and in drought priming biostimulants (sea weeds extracts and microbial biostimulants) mode of action studies. Previous expertise in molecular biology techniques is mandatory. Expertise about chromatin-related methods and preparation of libraries for NGS (e.g. RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, etc.) are not essential but highly welcome. At least a basic English language knowledge, sufficient for an efficient communication, is essential. Very high scientific interest, motivation, and ability to work in a cooperative way is essential.
