Gordon Conference "Carotenoids, Apocarotenoids and Retinoids: From Nature to Bedside”
Su richiesta del Dott. Giovanni Giuliano (ENEA-C.R. Casaccia) si trasmette il seguente messaggio:
Dear colleagues,
the deadline for applying to the Gordon Conference "Carotenoids, Apocarotenoids and Retinoids: From Nature to Bedside” is approaching (May 20). The program (https://www.grc.org/carotenoids-conference/2018/) features an outstanding group of 42 speakers and 15 discussion leaders at the forefront of carotenoid/apocarotenoid/retinoid research.
How to apply: The registration is two-step: you first apply to the conference through the conference website (https://www.grc.org/carotenoids-conference/2018/). During the application, you can submit your poster abstract, and request a grant (see below). Students and postdoctoral fellows are encouraged also to apply to the Gordon Research Seminar which will be held immediately before the conference (https://www.grc.org/carotenoids-grs-conference/2018/). After your application is accepted by the chair, and any grant is awarded, you can register through the conference website. The whole procedure has to be completed by May 20.
Discussion co-leaders and speaker slots: Three discussion co-leader and one speaker slot are still available. These, and others that may become available due to last minute cancellations, will be filled from participants registered within the May 20 deadline.
Registration/travel Grants: Qualified applicants can apply directly for a Carl Storm Underrepresented Minority Fellowship or, through the Conference chair, for a Carl Storm International Diversity Fellowship or a Predominantly Undergraduate Institution Fellowship. Further information on these fellowships can be found at https://www.grc.org/about/grc-diversity-initiatives/. Additionally, thanks to a successful fundraising, we are able to provide 18 registration grants worth $ 700 each to early career scientists. The grants can be requested by both new applicants and people that have already registered, using the “contact chairs" button on the conference website. Finally, 18 travel grants worth $ 500 each will be assigned to presenters of short poster talks and recipients of poster awards (see below).
Short poster talks and poster awards: 12 short poster talks will be featured at the end of the four morning sessions. These will be selected from abstracts submitted (and registered) by the May 20 deadline, by a committee composed by the conference chair, vice-chair and discussion leaders. Presenters will be notified 15 days before the conference. In addition, 6 poster awards will be awarded by the same committee at the end of the conference. All awardees will receive a 500 $ travel grant, on top of any registration grant that they may have already received.
Please feel free forward this email to your collaborators/students or to any other interested colleagues.
Looking forward to meeting you at the conference!
